Builders still on their Easter Break however we did meet a couple of new friends.
We met the staircase man on Wednesday on site and were given a choice of the normal flush style of staircase or "cut string" style treads - wouldn't you now that Cheryl has chosen the cut string style, which of course means we will need to get oak treads rather than the white wood that was orginally quoted for!!
I also had the opportunity to talk with Building Control Officer who called on Friday afternoon while I was up at Ardlodge. I was able to clarify a few points around low energy lighting ie we have to have 25% of our total lights dedicated to low energy - but I don't think this will be as difficult as I thought it would be after my chat!
Cheryl, Craig and I started undercoating the kitchen and utility room late Thursday afternoon and continued on Friday... and Saturday... and Sunday! Thanks to a friendly neighbour we have now ended up with a straight edge around the ceiling! All this frantic activity is due to kitchen units hopefully being installed next week. This will save us the tricky job of painting around the units and over the top of cupboards at a later stage.
